Income statement

간단한 설명:

The income statement shows revenues, expenses, and profit for a period of time, such as a month, quarter, or year. It’s also called a profit and loss statement, P&L, statement of earnings, or statement of operations. Big companies sometimes throw the word consolidated in front of those phrases, but it’s still just an income statement. The bottom line of the income statement is net profit, also known as net income or net earnings. We explain the income statement in part 2 —p17, Financial intelligence for entrepreneurs

목적:

…the income statement tries to measure whether the products or services that a company provides are profitable when everything is added up. It’s the accountants’ best effort to show the sales the company generated during a given time period, the costs incurred in making those sales (including the costs of operating business for that span of time), and the profit, if any, that is left over. —p43, Financial intelligence for entrepreneurs
